Victoria Thomas is one of the top trainers in Dallas Texas. Victoria's client list includes some of the world's top high school athletes, NFL -, WNBA -, and professional volleyball players, including phenom Khat Bell. She is the sole owner of Journeyfit LLC. A sport performance and fitness studio in Richardson Tx. Before becoming the first African American female to own a gym in Richardson, Thomas was an explosive outside hitter, who lettered three years at Richardson High School (RHS) in Richardson, TX. Victoria led RHS varsity volleyball in blocks per game, and she was named 1st team all district 3 years in a row. Victoria went on to play volleyball at Rutgers University, on a full athletic scholarship where her most impressive performance was against St Johns University. Thomas hit an impressive .625, blistered 19 kills and posted four solo blocks.
It is of no surprise that Coach Thomas is a phenomenal athlete. She comes from a family, whose identity is embedded in athleticism. Her sister, Regina Thomas -- Ole Miss- and Dallas Premier Volleyball Club Alum -- is the first volleyball All-American of the state of Mississippi. Thomas's other sister, Esther Thomas, is a TCU track and field record-holding hurdler, who is currently at four top “T&F Invitationals,” including Texas Relays.
Victoria found her passion for coaching, while still in college at Rutgers University. She spent half of her college summer in Dallas coaching at the All-Star coaches camps, with coaches from UT, Baylor and New Mexico. She spent the other half in New Jersey coaching the Rutgers skills clinics at 7 different high schools and the Rutgers Nike Volleyball camp for two years in a row. Coach Thomas coached top level teams at Dallas Premier for 4 years and ran her own camps and clinics every summer. Thomas graduated from Howard University School of Law in 2015, practiced for 2 years but left her practice to pursue impacting athletes full time. Thomas recently (summer 2018) head coached a professional volleyball team, “TEAM DREAM,” at the USA volleyball national tournament and led them to their first championship win and gold medal.
Thomas is a National Academy of Sports and medicine certified trainer. She has helped physically develop and train some of top players around the world. Thomas trains through a unique lens. She is one of the few volleyball perfromqacne coaches that: played at a high level, coached at a high level and is a certified performance coach. She acknowledges this perspective as the energy that separates her from other volleyball trainers. She understands the powerful movements that need to be developed from a playing perspective a coaching perspective and a trainer’s perspective.
Thomas specializes in vertical increase, developing speed and power that is relatable to being a dominate volleyball player. Coach Thomas also centers her training programs around injury prevention for all her athletes. “Duplicating movements that are similar to proper volleyball technique in a fast and controlled environment will create the muscle memory on the court to make that same movement efficiently.”
